COUNCIL BILL __________________

AN ORDINANCE relating to Seattle Public Utilities; adopting the 2013 Water System Plan.

WHEREAS, the 2013 Water System Plan provides guidance for planning and managing Seattle Public Utilities' water system and capital facilities in coordination with growth management planning by the City of Seattle and other planning agencies in the Puget Sound Basin; and

WHEREAS, Seattle Public Utilities prepared its 2013 Water System Plan to meet Washington Department of Health requirements for water system plans and King County requirements for franchises and permits; and

WHEREAS, the 2013 Water System Plan sets a regional water use efficiency goal to reduce per capita water use from current levels so that total average annual retail water use of members of the Saving Water Partnership is less than 105 million gallons per day from 2013 through 2018 despite forecasted population growth; and

WHEREAS, Seattle Public Utilities has prepared a Determination of Nonsignificance for the 2013 Water System Plan which has been submitted to Council; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. The City of Seattle hereby adopts the 2013 Water System Plan, a copy of which is included as Attachments 1 and 2.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
