COUNCIL BILL __________________
AN ORDINANCE relating to City streets; changing the name of the portion of NW 54th Street, generally located between NW Market Street and one block southwest at the entrance to the Ballard Locks, to NW Locks Place; and superseding any other prior
ordinances to the extent inconsistent.
WHEREAS, the Seattle Police Department and the Seattle Fire Department agree that renaming Northwest 54th Street would improve way finding and reduce response time for emergency vehicles; and
WHEREAS, City departments and utilities have reviewed the proposal and agree that no significant negative impacts would result from this proposal; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The name of that portion of Northwest 54th Street accepted for street purposes under Ordinance 46587, set off as West 54th Street by Ordinance 52498, and changed to Northwest 54th Street by Ordinance 102981, generally
located between NW Market Street and one block southwest at the entrance of the Ballard Locks, legally described as the portion of Northwest 54th Street lying southwesterly of the south margin of Northwest Market Street and northeasterly of
the following described line:
Commencing at the intersection of the westerly line extended south of vacated 30th Avenue Northwest (formerly 7th Avenue West) and the northerly margin of the Great Northern Railroad as shown on the Plat of Brygger’s First Home Addition to the
City of Ballard;
Thence South 81 03’ 13” West 71.10 feet to the east margin of 30th Avenue Northwest as established by City of Seattle Ordinance No. 59675 and the True Point of Beginning of this line description;
Thence North 8 56’ 47” West along said east margin 24.23 feet to the southerly margin of said Northwest 54th Street;
Thence North 62 04’00” West 73 feet more or less to the midpoint of a curve on the northerly margin of said Northwest 54th Street and the endpoint of this line description.
is changed to NW Locks Place, superseding any other prior ordinances to the extent inconsistent.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force 30 days after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Seattle Municipal Code Section
1.04.020.
