ORDINANCE _________________
AN ORDINANCE relating to City streets, changing the name of a segment of Aurora Avenue North, under the Aurora Bridge, to Troll Avenue North and superseding Ordinance 102981 to the extent inconsistent.
WHEREAS, abutting property owners have petitioned the City to rename a segment of Aurora Avenue North which is located below the Aurora Bridge, to fulfill an element of the Fremont Neighborhood plan and recognize the significance of the Troll landmark
at this location; and
WHEREAS, the Seattle Fire Department has stated that renaming the street also would help to improve way-finding and reduce response time for emergency vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the Seattle Police Department, U.S. Postal Service, other City departments and utilities have reviewed the proposal and agree that no significant, negative impacts would result from implementing this proposal; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Aurora Avenue North from North 34th Street to North 36th Street is renamed to Troll Avenue North.
Section 2. Ordinance 102981, establishing the street names in the City of Seattle, is hereby superseded to the extent it is inconsistent with this ordinance.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days from and after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten (10) days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Municipal
Code Section 1.04.020.
