Budget Guidance Statement:
Budget Guidance Statement:
The City Council is adopting a package of funding additions totaling $335,000 as part of the 2012 Budget that will provide additional shelter and housing services for homeless families with children. The Council is taking this action in response to reports from citizens and service providers regarding the urgent need for such services for families. The objective of the additional funding is that no family be unsheltered by the end of 2012.
The Human Services Department will provide a report by June 30, 2012 concerning the number of families served by the funding added by the Council and whether there is further need for additional assistance for homeless families. If the report shows the need for additional assistance, the Council requests the Executive to propose strategies for assisting families and funding options in the 2013 ? 2014 proposed budget to meet the identified need.
