A Civic Recreation Field was built near the Ice Arena and Civic Auditorium in 1928. Seating 9,000 in grandstands and bleachers, the field was used for baseball, softball, football and prize fighting events. It was demolished in 1946 when the site was sold to the Seattle School District for a new stadium.
