WHEREAS, Thyra Brooks began working for the Seattle City Council September 18, 1989; and
WHEREAS, Thyra began her career with the Seattle City Council as a receptionist, arguably the most difficult job in the Department; and
WHEREAS, Thyra later served the Department as a word processor; and
WHEREAS, Thyra finished her career with the Department as Office Manager and Support Services Supervisor; and
WHEREAS, Thyra has accepted a position with the City Auditor's Office; and
WHEREAS, Thyra has, year-after-year, masterfully engineered the production of budget notebooks, often working late into the night to meet committee deadlines; and
WHEREAS, Thyra has been the "go-to" person for Council staff, the woman who knows how to get things done quickly and accurately; and
WHEREAS, no matter how busy Thyra was, she always made herself available to help Councilmembers and Legislative Department staff; and
WHEREAS, we will miss Thyra's generosity, sense of humor, and spirit of cooperation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE, THAT:
We hereby thank Thyra for her exemplary years of service with the Seattle City Council, and wish her the very best in her new position with the City Auditor's Office.
