A RESOLUTION authorizing the submission of a grant application to the United States Department of Justice Assistance and the United States Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation for financial assistance under the Weed and Seed Program in
the total amount of One Hundred Seventy Five Thousand Dollars ($175,000) to revitalize neighborhoods in the East Precinct.
WHEREAS, Ordinance 119527, passed by the Seattle City Council on July 12, 1999, authorized the Chief of Police to enter into an agreement for and on behalf of The City of Seattle for financial assistance from the United States Department of Justice and
the United States Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation in the total amount of $275,000 for the Weed and Seed Program in the East Precinct; and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice has advised the Seattle Police Department that a limited amount of additional funding is available to fund program activities in 2000 and beyond; and
WHEREAS, The City of Seattle desires to make application for this additional funding; Now, Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE:
The Mayor and/or the Chief of Police is authorized to file an application on behalf of The City of Seattle with the United States Department of Justice and with the United States Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation for financial
assistance in the total approximate amount of One Hundred Seventy Five Thousand Dollars ($175,000) for the purpose of continuing the Weed and Seed Program in the East Precinct.
The Mayor and/or the Chief of Police is authorized to furnish such additional information as the United States Department of Justice may require in connection with the grant application.
