BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
That the duties of the standing and special committees shall be as follows:
Business, Economic and Community Development Committee: To deliberate and make recommendations on legislative matters relating to downtown and neighborhood business issues, economic development policies, revenue and consumer affairs, intergovernmental
relations, regional governance issues, and building, construction, land use and design issues;
Finance and Budget Committee: To deliberate and make recommendations on legislative matters relating to the financial management and policies of the City and its agents, including the biennial budget, the six-year capital plan, the Strategic Budget
Initiative, the Neighborhood levy, the Department of Administrative Services, the oversight of ethics and elections issues, taxes, revenue, audits, claims and administration of the City of Seattle; apprenticeship and loan programs;
Health, Housing, Human Services, Education and Libraries Committee: To deliberate and make recommendations on legislative matters relating to public health, housing and human service needs of Seattle families, children and youth, homeless and older
citizens; Block Grant; domestic violence; education and Seattle Public Schools; the public library system and municipal television;
Personnel and Labor Policy Committee: To deliberate and make recommendations on legislative matters relating to retaining and developing a quality work force; labor issues including, but not limited to, managed competition, collective bargaining
agreements and other issues related to salary rates, hours and conditions of employment. Additionally, the committee oversees major institution policies and master plans;
Neighborhoods and Neighborhood Planning Committee: To deliberate and make recommendations on legislative matters related to neighborhood planning, outreach, and projects; neighborhood capital funding; Neighborhood Matching Funds and neighborhood
assistance programs; and manufacturing and industrial centers planning;
Parks, Public Grounds and Recreation Committee: To deliberate and make recommendations on legislative matters relating to parks, public grounds and recreation; community centers planning, programming and services, including recreation, child care,
youth/elderly, volunteer, employment and literacy programs; Zoo and Aquarium; Seattle Center; property management; open space; and urban/environmental renewal and enhancement;
Public Safety Committee: To deliberate and make recommendations on legislative matters relating to crime and fire prevention, fire suppression, law enforcement, administration of justice, corrections, and emergency services; and to coordinate with
County, State and Federal law and justice agencies;
Transportation Committee: To deliberate and make recommendations on legislative matters relating to City-wide and regional transportation policies and planning; street and sidewalk construction, improvement, maintenance and rehabilitation; traffic
control and parking policies; and to coordinate transportation issues with King County, the Regional Transit Authority, Puget Sound Regional Council, Washington State Department of Transportation, and neighborhoods within the City of Seattle;
Utilities and Environmental Management Committee: To deliberate and make ecommendations on legislative matters relating to Seattle City Light, the eattle Water Department, the Seattle Solid Waste Utility and the Seattle Drainage and Wastewater Utility,
and the City's environmental priorities; issues include utility rates, environmental stewardship, water and energy resources, conservation, customer service and regional energy matters;
Technology and Telecommunications: To deliberate and make recommendations on legislative matters relating to city information technology planning and implementation, cable telecommunications and telecommunications planning, the Public Access Network
(PAN), and citizen technology literacy and access issues.
