AN ORDINANCE relating to environmental protection amending Attachment 1 to Seattle Municipal Code Section 25.05.675 to add Jefferson Park and the Mt. Baker Ridge Viewpoint as public places offering views of significant natural and human-made features.
WHEREAS, Seattle has a magnificent natural setting of greenery, mountains, and water; and
WHEREAS, visual amenities and viewing opportunities are an integral part of the City's environmental quality; and
WHEREAS, the City has developed particular sites for the public's enjoyment of views of mountains, water and skyline and has many public places where such views enhance one's experience; and
WHEREAS, it is the City's policy to protect public views of significant natural and human-made features, including Mount Rainer, the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, the Downtown skyline, Puget Sound, Lake Washington, Lake Union, and the Ship Canal, from
public places consisting of the specified viewpoints, parks, scenic routes, and view corridors, identified in Attachment 1 to Seattle Municipal Code Section 25.05.675; and
WHEREAS, the Pro Parks Levy has funded two park projects that create new public sites for the public's enjoyment of views; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days from and after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten (10) days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by
Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
