AN ORDINANCE relating to the Weed & Seed Program in Central Seattle; authorizing the execution of agreements with the United States Department of Justice and the United States Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation for financial
assistance in the total amount of Two Hundred Twenty Five Thousand Dollars ($225,000); accepting the money when received; increasing the 2001 Budgets of the Police Department and the Human Services Department; ratifying and confirming prior acts; and
making a reimbursable appropriation therefor; all by a three-fourths vote of the City Council.
WHEREAS, Resolution 30146 adopted by the Seattle City Council on April 10, 2000 authorized application to the United States Department of Justice and the United States Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation for financial assistance for
the purpose of continuing the Weed and Seed Program in Central Seattle; and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice and the United States Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation have advised the City that the City's application for continued financial assistance has been approved; Now, Therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. As requested by the Chief of Police, the Chief of Police or his designee is authorized to execute for and on behalf of The City of Seattle, an agreement with the United States Department of Justice for financial assistance in the amount of
One Hundred Seventy Five Thousand Dollars ($175,000) for the purpose of continuing the Weed and Seed Program in Central Seattle. The funds, when received, are hereby accepted and shall be deposited to the credit of the Supplemental Appropriations
Account of the Emergency Subfund.
Section 2. The Chief of Police, or his designee, is authorized to execute for and on behalf of the City of Seattle an agreement with the United States Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation for financial assistance in the amount Fifty
Thousand Dollars ($50,000). The funds, when received, are hereby accepted and shall be deposited to the credit of the Supplemental Appropriations Account of the Emergency Subfund.
Section 3. To carry out the purposes of the grant agreements authorized in Section 1 and Section 2, and contingent upon the execution of those agreements, the following program categories in the 2001 Budgets of the following departments are increased
as follows:
Police P10 Office of the Chief $99,999
Human Services H12 Family and Youth Services $125,001
For such purposes, the sum of Two Hundred Twenty Five Thousand Dollars ($225,000) is hereby appropriated from the Supplemental Appropriations Account of the Emergency Subfund for the purposes outlined above. The Supplemental Appropriations Account of
the Emergency Subfund shall be reimbursed from funds to be received from the United States Department of Justice and the United States Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation as authorized in Section 1 and Section 2. Any unencumbered or
unexpended portions of this appropriation shall carry forward to future years, unless expressly abandoned by ordinance.
Section 4. Any act consistent with the authority and prior to the effective date of this ordinance is hereby ratified and confirmed.
Section 5. The foregoing appropriation is made to meet actual necessary expenditures of the City for which no appropriation has been made due to causes which could not reasonably have been foreseen at the time of the making of the 2001 Budget in
accordance with RCW 35.32A.060.
Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days from and after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten (10) days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Municipal
Code Section 1.04.020.
