Whereas, Seattle is home to The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts 2012 Hotel of the Year; and

Whereas, the Fairmont Olympic Hotel is now a two-time winner of this coveted and prestigious honor; and

Whereas, the Fairmont Olympic Hotel ranked among the best in the Fairmont brand for a Guest Satisfaction rating of 870 out of 1000 -as measured in JD Powers Guest Satisfaction Program; and

Whereas, the Fairmont Olympic Hotel is a leader in terms of Meeting Planner satisfaction -this year achieving a rating of 971 out of 1000 -the best in the company; and

Whereas, the hotel placed second in the company as ranked by Leading Quality Assurance Audit with a score of 82.3 percent, and;

Whereas, the Fairmont Olympic was able to over-achieve against its Gross Operating Profit (GOP) budget by nearly 10 percent while surpassing its top-line revenue budget by six percent; and

Whereas, the hotel improved its RevPAR index by five percent; and

Whereas, the Fairmont Olympic Colleague Engagement Survey scores are amongst the highest in the company at 4.66; and

Whereas, the Fairmont Olympic Hotel and The Fairmont Banff Springs tie for 2012 Environmental Hotel of the Year. The Fairmont Olympic Hotel was named Washington State Recycling Association "Recycler of the Year" for the hospitality category; and

Whereas, the Fairmont Olympic Hotel continues to strengthen Seattle's reputation as a leader in the hospitality industry with an unwavering commitment to make each stay and meeting in Seattle memorable and distinct, and;

Whereas, we should recognize the passion and commitment of the Fairmont Olympic Hotel and striving for the highest standards in hospitality and meetings and conventions:

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mike McGinn, Mayor of Seattle, do hereby proclaim February 22nd, 2013 to be

in Seattle, and call upon the people of the city to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities, and to celebrate the vital, year-round roles they play as trusted leaders in hospitality, green practices and meetings and conventions.
