Legislation Title:

A RESOLUTION initiating a proceeding for the vacation of a portion of Broad Street between Harrison Street and 6th Avenue North pursuant to Chapter 35.79 Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Seattle Municipal Code (SMC) Chapter 15.62.

·         Summary of the Legislation:

This resolution initiates review of a proposed street vacation of Broad Street between Harrison Street and Sixth Avenue North. Council rules authorize initiating the vacation process by Resolution in lieu of by a qualified petitioner.

·         Background:

The proposed vacation is part of a larger effort of right of way enhancements under Mercer Street and SR 99 corridors, known as the Mercer Corridor Project West Phase (MCP-WP) and the Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Project (AWVR). Vacation of this segment of Broad is anticipated under these two transportation planning efforts.
