Legislation Title: |
A RESOLUTION adopting Seattle’s Parks and Recreation 2006 Development Plan and authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to submit the plan to the Washington State Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
|
Summary and background of the Legislation:
This proposed legislation will adopt Seattle’s Parks and Recreation 2006 Development Plan (2006 Plan), which is a replacement to the Seattle’s Parks and Recreation Plan 2000, and authorize the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) to submit the plan to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation (IAC). This legislation is required by the grantor as part of DPR’s application and must be adopted by the Seattle City Council, signed by the Mayor, and submitted to IAC no later than June 1, 2006.
This 2006 Plan is specific to acquisition and development efforts that will be pursued over the next five to six years. It includes: a recap of goals and policies regarding park acquisition and development, DPR’s Adopted 2006 – 2011 Capital Improvement Program and an update of our Gap Analysis indicating areas in which the City of Seattle has not met its goals in open space. The adopted CIP is available at the City Clerk’s Office and can be found at the Seattle Department of Finance web site (www.seattle.gov/financedepartment/).
This is a planning document and does not commit to any specific projects or programs. Specific elements included in the plan will be subject to budget analysis and discussion as they come forward in detailed project or program proposals. |
