Legislation Title: |
AN ORDINANCE accepting the deed for the Westbridge Building property, located at 4201 West Marginal Way Southwest, for general municipal purposes.
Summary and background of the Legislation:
This Council Bill accepts a property deed for general municipal purposes and places the property under the jurisdiction of the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR).
DPR’s maintenance facility at 802 Roy Street was too small, a seismic hazard, and a less than optimal use of the South Lake Union area. DPR conducted a lengthy and thorough search over three years for suitable property within the City to house its maintenance functions and concluded that the property known as the Westbridge Building property at 4201 West Marginal Way Southwest met DPR’s criteria for a suitable site.
Ordinance 120862 authorized DPR to buy the property but did not authorize deed acceptance.
The Seattle City charter requires acceptance by ordinance of the deeds for all property purchases. This legislation accepts the deed for the Westbridge Building property.
