Fiscal Note
Template
Each piece of legislation that is financial in nature requires a fiscal note. The fiscal note should be drafted by department staff and should identify operating, capital, revenue, and FTE impacts of the legislation. After preparation by departmental staff, the City Budget Office will review and make necessary revisions before transmittal to Council.

Legislation Title: AN ORDINANCE relating to
the revision of plumbing permit fees;
amending Section 22.504.010 of the Seattle
Municipal Code.
Summary of the
Legislation: Proposal to increase base
fee for plumbing permit and reduced backflow prevention device permit from $75
to $95 and increase re-inspection fee from $40 to $100.
Background (Include
justification for the legislation and funding history, if applicable): Fee increases are necessary to maintain
existing levels of inspection and code enforcement services due to inflationary
cost increases. Fees for plumbing
permits were last changed effective January 1, 1998. Fees for reduced backflow prevention device permits were
established effective December 30, 1999.
The same fee changes
will be proposed to the Metropolitan King County Council for adoption in King
County.
The fee increases
would provide an additional $136,455 to support the Health Department’s
Plumbing/Gas Piping Inspection program.
