AN ORDINANCE relating to the Animal Fee Ordinance; adjusting spaying and neutering fees at the Municipal Spay and Neuter Clinic; and amending Subsection 9.26.060 A of the Seattle Municipal Code.

WHEREAS, spay and neuter surgery fees were last raised effective January 1, 2009 (Ordinance 122847); and

WHEREAS, the proposed fee increases will allow the Municipal Spay and Neuter Clinic to fully recover expenditures while continuing to provide low-cost services to Seattle citizens; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Executive Administration will continue to use private donations in the Pet Population Control Fund as needed to assist low-income citizens with spay and neutering service costs; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF SEATTLE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Effective January 1, 2010, Subsection 9.26.060 A of the Seattle Municipal Code, last amended by Ordinance 122847, is amended as follows:

9.26.060 Spay and Neuter Clinic fees.

The fees at the Municipal Spay and Neuter Clinic shall be:

A. Surgery fees:

Cats

Spaying....$60 90

Neutering...$55 85

Dogs

Dog neuter under 50 pounds....$90 120

Dog neuter 50 80 pounds....$105 135

Dog neuter over 80 pounds....$125 155

Dog spay under 50 pounds....$100 130

Dog spay 50 80 pounds....$115 145

Dog spay over 80 pounds....$125 155

Animals other than cats and dogs may be spayed or neutered at the discretion of the Director of Executive Administration, or his/her designee, who shall charge a fee for the service that is based upon estimated costs, not to exceed One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) per hour of surgery.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days from and after its approval by the Mayor, but if not approved and returned by the Mayor within ten (10) days after presentation, it shall take effect as provided by Municipal Code Section 1.04.020.
