WHEREAS, the Seattle Housing Authority has filed a petition with the City Council to vacate public property; and
WHEREAS, the petition is signed by the owners of more than two-thirds of the property abutting on the subject vacation areas; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE, THAT:
Section 1. A hearing for the vacation of the streets and alleys in the Yesler Terrace Community Housing described as:
Terry Avenue From the southern right-of-way margin of Alder Street to the western right-of-way margin of Broadway.
Spruce Street From the northeastern right-ofway margin of 9th Avenue to the western right-of-way margin of Broadway.
Alley in Block 84 of the Terry's 2nd Addition plat Alley from the northern right-of-way margin of Spruce Street to approximately 60-feet north of the northern right-of-way margin of Spruce Street.
Spruce Street and 9th Avenue Intersection A portion of the northwest corner of the intersection of Spruce Street and 9th Avenue to remove the radius.
Alley at Yesler Terrace Steam Plant From the eastern right-of-way margin of 8th Avenue to the southern right-of-way margin of Spruce Street.
8th Avenue Intersection A portion of the northwest corner of the intersection of 8th Avenue and Yesler Way to remove the radius.
8th Avenue South From the southern right-ofway margin of Yesler Way to the eastern right-of-way margin of Interstate 5.
South Main Street From the eastern right-ofway margin of Interstate 5 to the western right-of-way margin of 10th Avenue South.
9th Avenue South From the southern right-ofway margin of South Main Street to approximately 90-feet south of the southern right-of-way margin of South Main Street.
South Washington Street From the eastern right-of-way margin of 10th Avenue South to the western right-of-way margin of 12th Avenue South.
OR in the alternative, to vacate any portion of these rights-of-way as described;
RESERVING to the City of Seattle the right to make all necessary slopes for cuts or fills upon the property in the reasonable original grading of any right-of-way abutting upon the property after the vacation, and further;
RESERVING to the City of Seattle the right to reconstruct, maintain and operate any existing overhead or underground utilities in the property until the beneficiaries of the vacation arrange with the owner(s) for their removal:
is hereby fixed so that Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at 5:30 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, Floor 2 City Hall, is the time and place that the Special Committee on Yesler Terrace will consider the petition, and the City Clerk is directed to give the
notice of such hearing in the manner provided by law. A map, indicating the property described in the petition shall be affixed to and become a part of the notice, required by law to be posted in a conspicuous place on the rights-ofway sought to be
vacated.
